Save the date: Dutch Sports Infrastructure will organize a parallel session at the Netherlands India Business Meet organized by KPMG, ING and NICCT on Tuesday 21 October 2014. See information below. On Tuesday 21 October ING, KPMG and the Netherlands India Chamber of Commerce & Trade (NICCT) will organize the Netherlands India Business Meet (NIBM) for the 9th time. Currently the NIBM is the largest business conference in the Netherlands promoting the bilateral economic relationship between India and the Netherlands. Last year almost 300 business men, business women and government officials gathered for the NIBM which was built around the themes ‘partnerships’ and ‘innovation’. Saudi Aramco to build 11 stadiums across the kingdom

State-owned oil major to oversee construction of sports facilities as part of King Abdullah Programme Saudi Aramco is to build 11 world-class stadiums across Saudi Arabia as part of a King Abdullah Programme to improve sports facilities in the country. The stadiums will be built in the provinces of Medina, Al-Qassim, Eastern Province, Asir, Tabuk, Hail, Northern Border Region, Jazan, Najran, Baha and Al-Jouf. Each stadium will have a capacity of 45,000 people and will be based on King Abdullah Sports City (KASC), which was opened in Jeddah in May. KASC is home to a 60,000-seat stadium as well as a 2,000-seat multisports hall, 1,000-seat athletic stadium and training fields for other sports. Brazil football stadiums kick-off with Philips lighting ahead of summer tournament

Tenders for FIFA 2022 projects this year                     March 20, 2014 – 9:04:06 am DOHA: Qatar’s FIFA 2022-related projects are well on track. The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy is in the advanced stages of design work for six stadiums. This year will see five stadiums begin the early works on foundations and constructions, a top official said yesterday. Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) also revealed plans to launch $27.5bn-worth of expressway and interchange projects over the next five years to supplement the over $3bn-worth of contracts that were awarded last year. The road projects are expected to be completed in 2020. Addressing an international audience gathered at the MEED Qatar Projects Conference 2014, Yasser Al Mulla, project manager at Al-Rayyan Precinct for the country’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, assured the world that Qatar’s preparations for FIFA World Cup 2022 are progressing as per the original schedules. Al Mulla said Qatar will issue 10 tenders this year for project managers and design consultants on the stadiums being built for the games. “We are in the advanced stages of design work for six stadiums. This year we will see five stadiums begin the early works on foundations and construction”. Doha expects to spend an additional $4bn on building stadiums and related sporting infrastructure for the World Cup. MoU to enhance collaboration between in India and Holland in the field of Sports development and the development of excellent Sports facilities

Minister of Youth and Sports of India, Mr. Jitendra Singh and Dutch  Minister of Health, Wellfare and Sports Ms.  Schippers have signed an MoU to enhance collaboration between in India and Holland in the field of Sports development and the development of excellent Sports facilities. The Dutch minister Schippers was accompanied by a delegation of Dutch public and private organizations. Based on experiences in the Netherlands Dutch companies came to India to share experiences on urban planning and operation and construction of sports facilities.  Overall discussion were not only on the ‘hardware’ but the Royal Netherlands Football Federation joined to dicuss grass roots football development through the World Coaches program. The Royal Netherlands Embassy and Bricks India engaged Dutch Sports Infrastructure already during a visit of Minister Singh in June 2013.  Many of the Dutch public and private parties have gained knowledge in the development of the Amsterdam Arena in the Netherlands. The Amsterdam Arena is home to Ajax Amsterdam and the largest stadium in the Netherlands. It is the first multipurpose stadium in Europe, since it opened in 1996, also thanks to the public-private partnership with the Municipality of Amsterdam. The management of Amsterdam Arena keeps developing the stadium, as a result the stadium generates a profit and aims to be carbon neutral by 2015. Private parties have contributed to the success to the Amsterdam Arena and keep working on technological innovations for the future. NEW DELHI – Nederlandse bedrijven en instellingen die betrokken zijn bij de bouw van stadions en het opzetten van andere voorzieningen om sport mogelijk te maken, kunnen de komende jaren mogelijk aan het werk in India. Het land wil zijn sportinfrastructuur verbeteren en gaat daarbij samenwerken met Nederland. Minister Edith Schippers (Sport) heeft hiervoor in New Delhi met haar Indiase collega een overeenkomst gesloten, meldde vrijdag haar woordvoerder. Als onderdeel van de afspraken wordt meteen al bekeken of het multifunctionele stadionconcept van de Amsterdam ArenA toepasbaar is op een van de grote stadions van New Delhi, zodat er behalve sportevenementen ook manifestaties en concerten mogelijk zijn. Verder is het de bedoeling dat op het gebied van stadioninrichting, kunstgras en veiligheid wordt samengewerkt. Dat geldt eveneens voor het opzetten van competities en sportacademies en het opleiden van coaches en scheidsrechters. Met Schippers reist in India ook een delegatie van Nederlandse bedrijven mee. Daaronder zijn onder meer Ten Cate Grass, Amsterdam Arena International, Philips en Ballast Nedam. Ook de KNVB en de gemeente Amsterdam zijn aanwezig. India is een opkomende economie.
